To the Amelius community,

We hope your holidays have given you a well deserved pause, approaching 2023 with new energy and a fresh outlook.

Over the break, we took the time to think about what we can do as a family, a team and a community.

In 2022, our business changed drastically with the acceleration of remote work, saying farewell to old colleagues and welcoming new ones, while others are continuing with us overseas. We travelled, read, and opened ourselves to the world around us, taking time to breathe and bringing you some campaigns that we're really excited about.

Where we could, we found ways to donate to organisations working in areas that we have shared or worked in, such as the Koori Mail during the floods across Lismore and the Women and Girls’ Emergency Centre in Waterloo nearby our office at the end of the year. We would not have been able to do it without you.

As always, Amelius is inspired by the simplicity of wardrobe classics that last beyond the season.  We’re a female-run business committed to creating quality ready-to-wear that exudes comfortable confidence. Sustainability means more than just the materials we use, but also how we run this business so that it will be here alongside our world in the future.
We’re a small team with big hearts and diverse backgrounds ready to make a change.

  1. Streamlining our offering

After reading about the piles of clothing that end up in landfill, or in the Atacoma Desert, or even looking to what we have leftover in our storeroom, we’ve decided to return to the K.I.S.S. principle - offering a smaller, simple permanent collection year round with the addition of some special seasonal capsules. This lets us spend more time developing quality products to be beautiful and functional. Our favourite garments are versatile yet sophisticated, and from what we’ve seen, so are yours.

  2.  Communicate with international communities

In 2022, we were lucky enough to fit in some travel, shooting in Byron and Florence, and taking the opportunity to see where we belong in the big wide world. We’re going to spend more time bringing you guides and tips on what we wear, where we wear it, and how we manage on long haul flights or cross-country road trips. When we can’t, we’ll reach out to members of our international community and get back to you.

  3. Develop relationships with charitable causes impacting social awareness

It’s embedded in what we do to use our business to empower women from all walks of life. Every single staff member at Amelius has an immigrant story, and we are almost an entirely female-run business. We want to help our community feel good wearing our clothes, and for you to help us put our money where our mouth is.

We invite you to join us on our journey to creating these discussions and sharing your ideas across our platforms.

From organisational tips, uplifting songs, or colours that you love - keep an eye out as we start to ask you the questions, and we'd love to hear from you!

    Dear team

What you are doing is wonderful. I am a 54 year old career public servant qualified in psychology and family therapy. I now manage child welfare, public housing and services to disadvantaged people. In 2022 I discover your label and now have two beautiful shirts. I am really looking forward to wearing on on my first day back from my summer break. Perhaps I’m not your average customer given my age but I have lived incorporating your items with my existing wardrobe.

I love your commitment to women and the values you hold.

    Best wishes

    Linda
