Lola & Lilly is a fashion boutique located in the beautiful Barossa Valley. The team behind Lola & Lilly is a mother-daughter duo, Tracey and Lilly, who together endeavour to cater for fashion forward women of a wide age group.
Firstly, Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Our names are Tracey and Lilly, and we are a Barossa Valley based mother daughter duo who both posses a love for all things fashion and accessories. We feel lucky to work alongside each other in such a flexible environment and often find ourselves hanging out together on a weekend, even after a full week of being together! We both love exploring the beautiful wineries and restaurants on our doorstep and getting dressed up for a good event from time to time.
Tell us how Lola & Lilly Boutique came about? And the reasoning for opening up a retail store?
We decided to combine our love for fashion and our skills to create our brick & mortar store, which has grown into an online store. Tracey has previously worked in buying for a large family owned SA homewares furniture business, and Lilly in marketing, graphic design & social media. We felt the options for women in the Barossa were limited and saw a gap in the market, so we took our opportunity! We share similar tastes, but naturally, with our age difference, style and see things differently. We endeavour to cater for fashion forward women of a wide age group and strive to offer brands exclusively to our area, to avoid saturation in our regional area.
How long have you stocked Amelius for? We would love to hear why you chose to stock Amelius as a label.
We are a relatively new stockist of Amelius, having only received two drops thus far. As mentioned previously, we pride ourselves on catering for fashion forward women of a wide age group, and Amelius fits this brief perfectly. Amelius, to us, is classic, contemporary and timeless, providing pieces that are easy to wear.
Out of all the pieces we have to offer, which style has been the best selling piece of all time?
The standout piece for us has been the Clarette Paisley Maxi Dress. The wrap style has been flattering on all shapes and sizes, while the sage paisley print is simply stunning.
Any tips/advice to anyone out there who wants to launch their own boutique?
Although it is a lot of fun, it is definitely a lot more work than it seems! Flexibility is a must while finding your feet in the first few years, as well as making sure you understand the clientele in your specific area for a brick & mortar store.
What's your favourite thing about owning a store/ the most challenging aspects?
Our favourite thing, hands down, is having access to such beautiful brands and pieces all year round! We love ordering for upcoming seasons to see what trends are forecasted for the future. Being situated in a tourist area during Covid has been challening - but on a positive note, it has allowed us to really establish our online store.
As it has been an extremely hard time due to Covid recently , what's something you would like to vocalise to the general public?
Something we can all do to support one another during times like this. Where you can, buy local and small. We still do a happy dance every time a customer purchases in store or online from us! A like, follow or share on social media is another way to support your favourite small and local businesses, and is appreciated more than you know.
Last but not least, What is your favourite piece from our Spring '21 'Hacienda' range?
For Tracey, definitely the Clarette Paisley Maxi, and Lilly can't go past the Portsea Linen Jumpsuit (in any colour!).
